For the winter term of 2025/26, we are seeking a professor (m/f/d) for the degree program Cyber Security at IU International University, limited to 2 years at our campus in Berlin, full-time (5 days on campus) or part-time (4 days on campus), starting on October 1st, 2025.

Your tasks

  • You represent the field of Cyber Security in teaching and research within the bachelor’s degree program and become part of an extensive network in the field of higher education. (For more insights, see the coursebook).

  • You develop and lead face-to-face lectures on Campus and are responsible for the individual supervision of our students during their exams and while they prepare their thesis.

  • You teach practice-oriented fundamental knowledge in Cyber Security and are capable of training our students in the following areas: Cyber Security and Data Protection, Standards and Frameworks, Current Challenges of Cyber Security and Secure Networking

  • You contribute to the creative development of teaching formats within IU’s didactic concept and collaborate closely with colleagues to further develop these formats.

Your Profile

At IU International University, we focus on delivering practical knowledge. Therefore, we are looking for an expert in Cyber Security with professional experience, scientific expertise, and didactic skills that enhance the teaching at IU.

  • You successfully completed a university degree in Cyber Security or a related field with outstanding academic performance and hold a relevant doctoral degree (Ph.D.).

  • You have at least five years of practical work experience, including three years outside university, and may have already gained initial experience in academic teaching.

  • You demonstrate your expertise in the relevant subject areas through publications or projects.

  • You work team-oriented and reliably and are committed to in-person teaching while also being proficient in conducting virtual lectures.

  • You reside permanently in Germany.

  • You have English language skills at C1 level of the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (CEFR).

The employment requirements are governed by the Higher Education Law Thüringen.

      Academia FAQs

      When do lectures take place in dual studies?
      Our dual study program includes modules that take place every two weeks and modules that are taught every week on specific days. Normally, our lectures for a module take place in blocks of 4-6 UE (UE = 45 minutes). Planning of the blocks is done in consultation with our lecturers. The weekly teaching hours are: Mon-Fri 8:00-20:00.
      What is the application process for a lecturer assignment?
      Once we review your application you will receive a further questionnaire by e-mail to be completed and returned.  We will promptly send you relevant information by e-mail about teaching at IU. We will also inform you about the process regarding a trial lecture.
      Is there a teacher forum for discussion & exchange?
      Absolutely! At every location we have a regular faculty conference. We also encourage dialogue via our collaboration tools and all our module leaders are available for questions at any time.
      Am I a permanent employee or freelancer in IU Academia?
      Our Professors are permanently employed and our Lecturers, Tutors, and Authors are all Freelancers.
